ABOUT WHAT TODAY MEANS TO THEM AND HOW TO GET HELP IF YOU NEED IT. I WAS CRYING, ACTUALLY, BECAUSE THIS FIRST TIME I SMILED, SHOWING MY TEETH IN YEARS. I’M NOT LYING. LIKE YEARS. THE OKLAHOMA MISSION OF MERCY IN ENID ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, OFFERING FREE DENTAL CARE TO PEOPLE WHO NEED IT. A 43% OF OKLAHOMANS LAST YEAR DID NOT VISIT A DENTIST. THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHY PEOPLE DON’T HAVE A DENTIST, BE IT THEY’RE NOT CLOSE TO ONE. OF COURSE. COST. BUT FOR SOME PEOPLE, THIS IS THE ONLY DENTAL CARE THEY RECEIVE. EVERY YEAR, HUNDREDS OF OKLAHOMANS STEPPING UP TO DONATE THEIR TIME, THEIR MONEY, AND THEIR RESOURCES AND EXPERTISE TO GIVE OTHER OKLAHOMANS THE DENTAL CARE THEY NEED. I THINK THAT IT’S PEOPLE’S RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE HEALTHY MOUTHS AND HAVE JUST A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THE DENTIST. I’VE SEEN PEOPLE SMILE TODAY. THEY PROBABLY HAVEN’T SMILED IN YEARS. SO THAT FEELS PRETTY COOL TO BE ABLE TO VOLUNTEER MY TIME TO HELP THESE PEOPLE. THIS IS THE 15TH EDITION OF THE OKLAHOMA MISSION OF MERCY, AND THEY GO ALL OVER THE STATE TO HELP OKLAHOMANS. ONE GOAL OF THE EVENT IS TO VISIT DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE STATE. WE’VE BEEN AS FAR WEST AS WOODWARD. WE’VE BEEN AS FAR SOUTH AS DURANT, AND THERE’S JUST A REAL NEED FOR DENTISTRY IN RURAL AREAS. THE EVENT WILL CONTINUE ON SATURDAY. PATIENTS CAN VISIT THE STRIDE BANK CENTER IN DOWNTOWN ENID, WHERE THEY’LL BE SEEN BY A DENTIST AT NO CHARGE. DOORS WILL OPEN AT 5:30 A.M. AND THEY’LL CLOSE THE LINE AROUND 10 TO 11 A.M. NO INSURANCE OR ID IS REQUIRED, AND VOLUNTEERS SAY THEY ESTIMATE THEY SERVED 400 PATIENTS ON FRIDAY. TH
